Our purpose is to assist marginalized indigenous communities in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, where Raramuri (Tarahumara), Tepehuano, Guarojio, and Pima tribal members suffer from malnutrition, inadequate water, lack of medical attention and education. These conditions are presently causing high mortality rates among infants, young children, and mothers.
Updates
Nikola Anakabe, one of our committed volunteers and partner has contributed his expertise and has generously donated 2 new videos, (links are provided below) of the recent trip to witness the completion of Rotary International Global Grant “Dancing for Water” where eleven of the 160 Water Harvest and Storage Systems were installed in El Salvial, Batopilas, Chihuahua, MX. The rest of the catchment systems were installed in villages of the municipality of Urique.
During the visit, donations of clothes, sacks of potatoes, beans, rice, containers-jugs for water, toys, fabric to make their traditional clothing, cereal, milk, sweets, even a truck with a tank full of water were gathered and delivered by CAPTAR.
Creation Care International, Inc. hand delivered nutritional food for malnourished children, pregnant and lactating women, elders, and sacks of beans to communities. This nine-month effort was aimed at reducing malnutrition. Assessments showed that this community was classified as extremely poor.

CCI has been instrumental in supporting and participating with the Pathways and Chihuahua Campestre Rotary Clubs’ logistics for the importation of a third and fourth semi-load shipments of medical equipment and supplies. We sincerely thank and recognize Rotary International Medical Equipment and Supplies Abroad, M.E.S.A. for their continued donations of supplies and medical equipment that have been delivered in rural clinics and hospitals in Tarahumara.

To help mitigate the effects of a prolonged drought and lack of bean and corn harvest, CCI delivered twenty tons of beans, with assistance from CAPTAR and local municipalities. This was funded by donations from the Church of the Palms in Sarasota, FL, and the Boulder Foundation in Colorado. Beneficiaries and participants are deeply grateful for their support.

CCI provided complementary support to a Rotary International Global Grant Water Project by providing food supplies and nutritious supplements to malnourished children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. CAPTAR installed the water harvest and storage systems in the Sierra Tarahumara. We are deeply grateful to the New Bremen/New Knoxville Rotary Club for their donation.

CCI, the Pathways Rotary Club, District 6600 and the Chihuahua Campestre Rotary Club, District 4110, and CAPTAR are collaborating to provide clean, potable water for Raramuri families.

Thanks to Rotoplas for the additional donation of 50- 1,100 lt. Water Tanks. (290-58 GAL)
Our partner, a Mexican not for profit agency named CAPTAR is responsible for the installations, and each homeowner is required to supply labor. The operations team has literally proven to have walked the extra miles, they have walked to villages where there are no roads- they have been destroyed or simply been erased. The courageous personnel makes sure that their water harvest systems have been fully installed and are working.
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Church of the Palms Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, FL, and other anonymous benefactors for their continued donations to feed malnourished children in native villages in the municipality of Batopilas.

CCI made a special trip to El Cuervo, Batopilas to deliver food relief packages and support Raramuri villages that were suffering from malnutrition, drought and lack of food.

Even though CCI´s priority is to support sustainable projects we cannot turn our face away, nor shut our hearts from the wrenching experiences that we encounter such as hunger, severe malnutrition, poor living conditions, raggedy clothes, desolation , and all that is related to extreme poverty.

More support is needed for this life saving project to be continued and expanded.

The feeling of despair is there, and yet there is hope…hope in community development, hope for rain, hope in raising their crops, hope in the goodness of someone with a compassionate heart. Listen to their call… and DONATE.

CCI volunteers, Rotarians, and the Operations Team of CAPTAR who visit and serve remote communities see, hear, smell, and feel the effects of poverty and malnutrition. What they witness touches their heart to the point they often make personal sacrifices to help when funds are short. It is difficult to convey the depth of feelings from those experiences on a website. We can tell you that CCI volunteers pray for your continued support as they prepare to return to scenes that affect them deeply and for the privilege of serving. They send you heartfelt thanks for helping them serve the poorest of the poor in remote regions of northern Mexico.

Let us continue to plant the seeds for an improved tomorrow, and a wholesome future; nature and rain will bless us. Join us and let’s work together for a better life for them and let’s bring together our strengths and resources to make it happen. All donations are welcomed.

We are deeply grateful to our initial benefactors for their trust in our project proposal and for their financial support. It has enabled continuing grant expansions for clean water and storage systems.

With support from Rotarians, The Rotary Foundation, and FECHAC, almost 400 rooftop water collection systems are being installed for Tarahumara families in remote villages. These systems provide clean water, reduce disease, cut down on hauling contaminated water, and uphold vegetable gardens.

The mission of Creation Care International, Inc. is to assist the indigenous, poor communities in northern Mexico. They are widely scattered indigenous communities living deep in the mountains where there are no roads, clinics, or public services.

Malnutrition, drought, and degraded soils are primary problems. CCI has experienced much progress recently through the installation of water collection systems that provided four hundred families with potable water for the first time. Pathogens in contaminated springs and streams cause diarrhea. Weakness from malnutrition then leads to sickness and death. Most affected are young children and mothers.

Donations from churches, Rotarians, and the Rotary Foundation have allowed Creation Care and our Mexican partner CAPTAR to make progress, but many more families need access to clean water. (Each water harvest installation costs $2,300. and there are estimated to be 30,000 indigenous families living in the Sierra Tarahumara. A large number of these families drink contaminated water. Will you help us with your donation? Time is of the essence for many.

We are so grateful to Nikola Anakabe, team workers, and all the other volunteers that have participated and encouraged us. Through photographs, they have provided the sights, the captured expressions, and videos of our journeys and for providing us with picture portals to view the mountains of the Sierra Tarahumara and its inhabitants.

Help us create a healthier future. Join us in building a better life for everyone. All donations and participations are appreciated.
